My name is Doug Bender, and I’ve been in the construction industry for over three decades. What began in the late ’80s as hands-on experience alongside my father has grown into a lifelong passion for building. After serving a tour of active duty in the military, I returned to construction and launched my own business in 1995, later incorporating in 2006.
Over the years, I’ve worked on nearly every aspect of residential and light commercial construction—framing, foundations, finish carpentry, custom homes, and countless remodels. What drives me is the process of teaming up with clients to turn their ideas into something real—creating homes and spaces that truly reflect their goals and lifestyles.
In recent years, most of my projects have come from family, friends, and repeat clients. I’ve intentionally kept the pace slower to focus on quality over quantity—delivering well-built, thoughtfully planned work for clients who appreciate a job done right. At Bender Builders, we don’t just build for people—we build with them, and we take pride in helping their vision come to life.
Professional Experience
Douglas Bender, founder of Bender Builders, grew up working with his father, a seasoned contractor. With a lifetime immersed in construction—aside from a tour of active duty military service—Doug has hands-on experience in all phases of building, from foundations and framing to finish carpentry, cabinetry, and complete custom home construction. He’s led countless remodels and thrives on bringing quality craftsmanship to each project.
Ed Hernandez, our project manager, brings deep experience across nearly every trade. He has overseen jobs of all sizes, with a strong focus on remodels and renovations. Ed’s practical knowledge and on-site leadership ensure each project runs smoothly, on schedule, and with attention to detail.
Together, Doug and Ed form a well-balanced team that blends craftsmanship with professionalism. Their combined strengths result in high-quality work, efficient processes, and clean, organized jobsites—no matter the scope.
